At the conference "Taking Inventory of Migration" ("Inventur Migration"), experts from various archives and museums discussed the issues surrounding historical sources on migration. Central questions included: What kinds of sources exist? How is migration history passed on?
Throughout the event, the discussion focused on migration as a universal historical phenomenon. Evidence of historical migration movements can be traced through architecture, culture and the arts. As the topic of migration becomes increasingly relevant, museums and archives face new challenges – as well as new opportunities – to contribute to our understanding of social change.
The conference literature was published by DOMiD in November 2009.
