The exhibition presents 20 black-and-white photographies of Guenay Ulutuncok from the DOMiD-collection „Photo Archive Migration“. Born in Istanbul in 1954, Ulutuncok lives in Germany since 1974. Between 1979 and 1994 he developed a vast photo collection on the documentation of migration.
50 black-and-white photographies of the renowned photographers Ara Güler and Ibrahim Demirel regard out of different perspectives the daily life of migrants from Turkey in the Germany of the 1970s and 1980s.
The lecture contains about 130 slides. It concerns above all original documents and private photographies of immigrants as well as pictures from the exhibitions "Fremde Heimat - Eine Geschichte der Einwanderung aus der Türkei" (1998), 40 Jahre Fremde Heimat (2001) and Projekt Migration (2005). 33 foil-clad pictures in black and white give an insight into the life of the so-called "guestworkers" in Germany. The specific: The story of the migrants is told in their own point of view. Because of that up to now hidden sides of German immigration history can come to light.
This exhibition tells the story of the recruitment of Turkish workers and their life in West Germany in the 1960s and 1970s. It consists of 32 foil-clad pictures in black and white. The exhibition has so far been shown in more than 30 cities in Germany.
The visual supported lecture on the newlier history of migration describes the development of the migration to Germany and analyses the social and political intercourse with migration. Only in German.
